A Welcoming Congregation

About Us

First United Methodist Church of Nixon is active in the community and in the church universal.  We conduct Bible studies for men and women, children’s activities, and mission work.  One of the most visible ministries in the mission field is God’s Storehouse, a Food Bank outlet located on the church campus.  Church members throughout the area staff this ministry, which provides food and clothing to anyone in need.
We are pleased to be designated a Welcoming Congregation by the Igniting Ministries initiative of the United Methodist Church through United Methodist Communications for a second year in a row.
Our members are friendly.  Visitors are welcome and loved.  Holy Communion is open to anyone wishing to participate.  The atmosphere is very casual.  This is a congregation where you can feel comfortable worshiping in jeans or a suit.  Our Richardson Christian Center is used to support church, family, and community functions.
Our choir, under the leadership of Key Garner, is very active.  We sponsor and host community cantatas during Christmas and Easter.  We have begun a children's handbell choir, the Angel Bells.  In addition to our own choir, the Smiley United Methodist Choir and other area musicians join us in this ministry of music.
Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday, both in the Annex and in the Education Building.  Worship begins at 11:00 a.m. with song that rises in praise and celebration of the Presence of God.   We welcome one and all, especially any who have never been in, but wish to explore the life and faith of, a Christian church.
